A young woman is hounded by the end of a concert by werewolves bikers. A killer pledge to fight against the Yakuza with a baby strapped to her back. In the Arizona desert, a cop chasing a robber of gas station. Three totally different stories about thirty pages each scenario where one comes down to attitude where the expression of feelings: fear, escape, revenge, a sense of duty ...
After Ernest and Rebecca and Memories Mamette , envy m 'has come to do the splits (at reading comics not true because otherwise I can not tell you the damage, but that's another story). So put a full collection of sweat and testosterone, a collection for guys, the true and tattooed (not at all big for me).
Doggy Bags is inspired Double Feature, These sessions are typical of 70's cinema where you could see two B-movies for the price of one. The more recent references are apparently looking for next Tarantino or Robert Rodriguez (Kill Bill or Machete). I say apparently because I am a true nozzle at film and I've seen any of the aforementioned films. For me, this collection is closer to the comics like Tales from the Crypt . Anyway, like any self-respecting collective work, Doggy Bags suffers from some unevenness of quality. The first story is rather weak level script and is read as quickly qu'oubliée. The second proposes a heroine of greater psychological depth, but the whole is a bit too chatty for my taste. Note nonetheless for fans of Freak's Squeel Florent Maudoux it portrays the mother of Little Panda, one of the leading characters of his favorite series. Finally, the duel in the desert of Arizona designed by Run, which almost single-handedly justify the purchase of the specification. The atmosphere is dark, twilight, the pervasive violence and final spin very well found. A treat!
Graphically, if the features of the three authors are different, the layout is highly dynamic with each dishevelling framing and cutting without any downtime. I can not resist quoting a sentence from the Chronicle published last month in the monthly Casemate that summarizes the album better than any big speech: "Forget teas quiet night, Doggy Bags reads a beer hand. " And probably also with the proper soundtrack, namely a grimy rock'n'roll and dripping yelled by Lenny, the lead singer of Motorhead.
You'll understood Doggy Bags does not lace. The model is particularly good with the beautiful cover vintage, small advertisements offset that open each story and post detachable end of the book. The object is beautiful and pleasant to take charge. Afterwards, in terms of content, say it is aimed at informed readers. An original editorial project in any case that deserves some attention here as long as you love comics in all its diversity.
