Mamette T2: The long way round

In late summer 1935, Marinette receives a letter from his mother. The latter told him that her father and her split up and she can not pick her as expected before classes begin. Condemned to remain in the country with Grandpa and Grandma for an indefinite period, the girl takes very the wrong thing, convinced that his parents no longer want her. She runs away and gets lost in the forest. Collected by Jeannot, she ended the night in his cabin in the woods. When his grandfather recovers the next day, Marinette passes a dirty fifteen minutes. The end of the holiday takes place a little better, especially thanks to Jacques, the dirty rascal with whom she lives delicious days.

On 30 September is the start. Marinette discovers his teacher, Mrs. Chignolle. Real cowhide, it educates its students and the hard lines to copy multiply the slightest prank. Thus begins the first autumn in the countryside of the little girl. Between farm chores, the way to school and homework, and fatigue accumulates each day passes at great speed, V. Fortunately there is the mischievous Jacques to provide some free time in this difficult day ...

Ah, what a good idea was imagining Nob Youth Mamette! His heroine has a little something of Tom Sawyer (and Jacques has Huck!) And his adventures exude a unique charm. This second volume is perhaps a little less light than the first, although it does not sink in a terrible darkness. Marinette discovers just say that real life with its mix of hard times and others happier.

Graphically, the Franco-Belgian "big-nose" that I love. The colors are beautiful and perfectly follow the transformation of rural landscapes between the summer and early autumn leaves. And what of the magnificent full-page illustrations without text or sequence, just as sublime (also speaking, I should say!). Without forgetting the past three boards where, as in the first volume, the octogenarian Mamette appears to give even more relief to all.

short, it's a real treat, especially if one connects the reading of both volumes as a result. A third volume will complete the undergraduate memories of Mamet. The wait will be long ...

Memories of Mamette T2: The long way round Nob Edition Glénat, 2011. 88 pages. 9.95 euros.

It's beautiful, right?
