The carriage in which there is little Gerda was attacked on a country road by ogres. Before being devoured by them, she befriends a child ogress and related his story. For years, Gerda is on the road in search of her friend Kay. This was once kidnapped by the Ice Queen and since, Gerda goes north because she thinks it is there that is the palace of the Queen. Before landing at the ogres, she had to flee the garden of an old witch who wanted to transform it into a plant and has unwittingly destroyed the castle of a princess who was actually a horrible monster. When her friend ogress released, Gerda can finally fulfill his quest and return to Kay. But boy is it always the one she dream?
Pommepuy Mary and Patrick Pion chose to tackle one of the most famous tales of Andersen for better blast. Of the seven original parts of The Snow Queen, the authors have maintained that the episodes can be clearly imaged: the attack of robbers, removal of Kay, the witch's garden, Princess tyrannical ... But if Andersen proposed a tale altogether rather classic villains actually quite sympathetic, and Pion Pommepuy give a ghoulish vision, strange and dark discarding what they bondieuseries consider to be unnecessary: the devil, angels, hymns, prayers ... Their very freely adapted version proves frightful and the end, full of bitterness against the reality of things, leaves no room for optimism. Say the final maxim of this anti-fairy tale might be: "They did not live happy and never had any children. "
Patrick Pion has previously published series where the influence graph was to look on the side of comics (or Megaron Chrome). It changes completely register here to propose boards in a style prints before the comics, "among old illustrated books and images of Epinal.
